We had breakfast with the bleary-eyed newlyweds at the hotel, then headed to the state park to pick Shirley up and head for Redwood National Park in far Northern California. Today was a long driving day, 620 miles. We passed the Great Salt Lake-the salt flats were other worldly, they looked like snow and icebergs. We bunked that night on a farm a mile or so off the highway. We use an app based service called Harvest Hosts-wineries, breweries, and farms provide overnights for RV’ing vagabonds like us. This modest farm was the 4th generation JD Hemphill Ranch in Janesville, CA. You’ll see a pic of the love of my life enjoying the view below:) The stays are always free, they just ask that you buy something, for us it was a jar o’ honey. We listened to some Tom Petty, always good road tunes. Today’s podcast was Ezra Klein discussing evolving gender issues, an interesting and complex topic we’re still trying to understand.
